Testimonials
Here’s what attendees told us they took back to their organizations after attending PDC Summit in 2026:
Financial Implications of PDC
It was great for me as a project manager to learn about how others are prioritizing needs and how to fund them.
I learned about tools used during and after COVID that contractors were using to control costs in the unstable market.
More and more clients are requesting Universal Design platforms. The information I learned will help me translate the pros and cons to my clients, so that they can make more informed decisions regarding budget and ROI.
Clarification on HOPD vs ASC was helpful to guide clients in determining what direction to go.
Clinical Perspectives in Design
The presentation on mental health and how hospitals can use EmPATH to help patients is an avenue I will pursue to help our clients.
I learned that there are more nurse researcher communities in various medical environments that should be tapped into to help foster more and better research in this industry.
I especially appreciated the session on Special Pathogen units, because I also have a Master of Public Health degree with an emphasis in Epidemiology, so it was great to see the two fields coming together.
I learned about specific design interventions that individuals with different mental health conditions can benefit from.
Seeing examples of integrating Behavioral Health units within Emergency Departments was a critical topic of interest as this is becoming a larger trend within the industry that clients are looking into.
Planning for better BH outdoor space and access.
Effective Collaboration
Networking was really good. Learned a few nuanced Post-Occupancy Evaluation items beyond what I had been considering just before our firm enters into a significant POE/research effort.
New communication tools used to keep all stakeholders informed.
I can apply several of the disruption planning items to projects I have in queue.
Learned that my organization has a long ways to go to fix internal policies compared to other organizations.
I met some great people at the conference and I was able to ask questions about their projects and how they design their hospitals and why. It was great to see and ask about projects outside of my own. New perspectives and ideas are very valuable!
Safe, Secure Environments
Specific examples of entry security that will assist California facilities needing to implement weapons detection in the next few years.
The ICRA session taught me a lot.
I learned how important hospital security, access and egress, lighting can drastically affect a patient's ability to access services and protect others.
Compliance & Policy
Learning about the updates to the FGI will help us adapt as this becomes the new code.
Review of NFPA 99 and changes to the definitions.
Light bulb moment in the ASHRAE 170 update that it's not an operational guideline, it's a design standard.
Learning about the code updates and the forthcoming commissioning requirements in NFPA.
Understanding of code changes from the committee updates NFPA and ASHRAE.
Impactful Interior Environments
Absolutely will begin incorporating digital signage and AI assistant tech into patient rooms.
I learned about flexible medical equipment planning strategies to accommodate design changes.
The use of infrared temperature and humidity sensors above the OR table for better control of space conditions.
We are planning a new hospital and the all-electric hospitals Keizer are building gave me a lot of ideas and I made a contact to run some ideas through.
Spoke with multiple OR ceiling vendors and got a better understanding of their differences.
Mass timber in hospitals. My practice has opportunities and clients who have inquired, and this presentation will help us meet their inquiry with more information.
Resilient design for a new building about to start design.
